Peskov: Russian and Azerbaijani militaries are in close dialogue over Iskander wreckage

The topic related to Baku's information about the discovery of Iskander-M missile fragments in Nagorno-Karabakh is being discussed in a close dialogue between the Russian and Azerbaijani militaries, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

"There is a close dialogue on the military line, during which all relevant issues are discussed," the Kremlin spokesman replied when asked whether the topic of finding Iskander fragments was raised in a telephone conversation between Russian and Azerbaijani presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev.

Peskov responded negatively to the question of whether the topic of the Russian Mi-24 helicopter shot down in November over Armenia near the border with Azerbaijan was also discussed during Putin and Aliyev's communication.

Previously, Aliyev said that he had discussed with the Russian president on April 1 the information about the discovery of fragments of Iskander-M missiles in the city of Shusha. He also said that on April 4, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry sent an official request to its Russian counterparts on this subject.

On April 2, the Azerbaijani de-mining agency (ANAMA) demonstrated the fragments of Iskander missiles, which, according to the Azerbaijani side, were used by Armenia against Azerbaijan during the hostilities in the conflict zone around Nagorno-Karabakh in the fall of 2020. On the same day, the press secretary of the Russian president said that Iskander missiles were not used during the escalation of the conflict in the region in the fall of 2020.
