Plane with 15 Russian children from Syria landed at the Chkalovsky airfield

The plane, which is carrying 15 Russian children, landed at the Chkalovsky airfield near Moscow, the press service of the Presidential Commissioner for children's rights Anna Kuznetsova reports.


"The plane carrying Russian children taken from Syria landed at the Chkalovsky airfield near Moscow," the report said.


The press service said that the children were accompanied by doctors during the flight. The recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor and the Russian Ministry of Health were followed at all stages of evacuation.


Work to establish the location and return to their homeland of Russian children located in Iraq and Syria began in the summer of 2017. During Kuznetsova's visit to Damascus in September 2019, during a working meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, an agreement was reached on humanitarian cooperation in this area. During the work of the Interdepartmental Commission under the children's Ombudsman, 182 children were returned to Russia from zones of armed conflict in the Middle East - 122 from Iraq and 60 from Syria.

 

 

Among the Russian children brought from Syria, there are wounded

 

Among the 15 children who were brought to Russia from Syria on Wednesday, there are wounded, they are sent for treatment. This was stated to journalists by the Presidential Commissioner for children's rights Anna Kuznetsova at the Chkalovsky airfield, where the plane landed.


"The flight was particularly difficult, they were taking sick children. Children with shrapnel wounds and other injuries were delivered, " Kuznetsova said.


According to her, among those who arrived in Russia, there is a brother and sister of 17 years and 14 years with injuries "that they received during the bombing, another boy (17 years old) also with injuries."


Kuznetsova said that nine boys and six girls aged between two and seventeen were brought to Russia and would be sent to Kabardino-Balkaria, Dagestan, Chechnya and Astrakhan in the future.


According to her, the Syrian side received lists with the names of more than 70 children. "We hope that in the near future we will be able to pick up the next group. We thank the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Health, and the Russian Foreign Ministry for their assistance and participation in the humanitarian mission," Kuznetsova said.
