Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a telephone conversation spoke in favor of solving the crisis in Libya by diplomatic methods and for establishing an inter-Libyan dialogue, the Kremlin's press service reports.
"Vladimir Putin and Angela Merkel exchanged assessments of the situation in Libya. A common opinion was expressed on the need to overcome the crisis in this country exclusively by political and diplomatic methods and establish an inter-Libyan dialogue, as stipulated by the decisions of the Berlin conference on January 19, 2020 and the UN Security Council resolution 2510, " the message reads.
In addition, the two leaders discussed the situation around Iran, the Kremlin reported.
"When discussing the situation around Iran, the Russian President stressed the futility of sanctions pressure on Tehran and the need for efforts to preserve the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program, approved by UN Security Council resolution 2231," the report said.
