People who agree to rewriting history can be called collaborationists, Vladimir Putin said.
"As we know, people who cooperate with the enemy during a war are called and have always and everywhere been called collaborationists. Those who agree with the rewriters of history can easily be called the collaborationists of today," Putin told at the open online lesson dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
According to him, the preservation of memory is a task of national importance: although it is not necessary to cling to the past, it is only with the support of it that you can confidently move into the future.
"All of us honour the memory of our heroes; we admire them and their courage and staunchness, And the more we learn, the more we become convinced that no trial is more complicated or tragic than a war. Wars deprive people of a future, destroy dreams, ruin live. Have no mercy for anyone," Putin stressed.
As the head of state noted, probably no one today can be 100 percent sure what subjects will be studied by today’s first year schoolchildren,which skills and professions will be most in demand in 10 years, but the history of the country, its culture and traditions will remain reliable reference point.
