In a message to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the establishment of a sovereign Palestine within the borders of 1967 is a crucial prerequisite for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
"Now, as the bloody conflict inflicts immeasurable suffering on the peaceful population of Palestine, I find it particularly crucial to reassert Russia's steadfast position in support of the realization of your people's legitimate rights to establish their own sovereign state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital," stated the Russian head of state in a message read out by Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, during an event commemorating the occasion at the embassy of the State of Palestine in Moscow.
As Putin highlighted, "the creation of a sovereign Palestine within the 1967 borders is considered the key condition for achieving a comprehensive, long-term, just Palestinian-Israeli settlement."
"I am confident that through joint efforts, we will be able to ensure the further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in various spheres," stated the Russian president. He emphasized that such collaboration aligns with the interests of both countries and contributes to strengthening regional security.
"I wish you, Mr. President, good health and success, and extend to all Palestinians wishes for peace, well-being, and prosperity in their native land," added Putin.
