Putin held telephone talks with Emir of Qatar

In a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed support for the actions of the Russian leadership in connection with the armed rebellion occurred two days earlier. This was reported by the Kremlin press service following the conversation.

 

"The Qatari leader expressed support for the actions of the Russian leadership in connection with the events of June 24," the statement said.

 

The two sides noted the high level of Russian-Qatari cooperation and confirmed their interest in further strengthening it.

 

According to the report, during the conversation, "both sides noted the high level of Russian-Qatari cooperation and confirmed mutual interest in its further strengthening in various spheres."

 

"[The two sides] positively assessed the results of Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani's visit to Russia last week," the Kremlin's press service added.

 

In addition, during the telephone conversation, it was "agreed to continue contacts."

 

 

Putin also congratulated the emir on the 10th anniversary of his accession to the throne and the upcoming Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

 

"Vladimir Putin warmly congratulated Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the 10th anniversary of his accession to the throne as well as the upcoming Eid al-Adha holiday," the report said.

 

Last week, the prime minister of Qatar was in Moscow on a visit. Putin asked him to convey his best wishes to the emir.
