Russian President Vladimir Putin expects the entire set of measures of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program to be restored to its previous framework.

Opening an operational meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council on Friday, the Russian head of state suggested discussing the situation in the Caspian region. He recalled that one of the partners within the "Caspian Five" is Iran.

"I hope that everything related to the JCPOA will be restored in its previous framework, and we will be able, including in the Caspian region, to build full relations with all participants of this Caspian club and implement in full all the plans that we have for ourselves," Putin said.

He also paid attention to the importance of the Caspian region for Russia. This includes economic activities, interaction with the closest partners and allies, the Russian president explained. "And, of course, it's about security issues, Russia's interests in the Caspian region as a whole," he added.

The head of the Russian state reminded that Russia is implementing large projects on this territory, including in the field of energy. "There are plans not only to complete the existing projects, but - representatives of our major companies report to me about this, the government - there are also plans to expand our economic activities, expand the activities of our economic operators," Putin noted, suggesting to talk "on the whole range of issues related to ensuring Russia's interests in the Caspian region."
