Putin invited the King of Jordan to exchange views on Syria and Afghanistan

Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with King Abdullah II of Jordan proposed an exchange of views on the topics of Syria and Afghanistan.


"Of course, we hope to exchange views on the most pressing issues, including what we have been doing together for many years," the Russian leader said. - "It's the normalization of the situation in Syria and the escalating situation now in Afghanistan." He noted that these subjects have been on the agenda of Russian-Jordanian negotiations for many years.

 

 

Talking to his counterpart, Putin said that despite the coronavirus pandemic the relations between Russia and Jordan are developing in all directions. According to him, this also applies to political dialogue and trade and economic relations. The president drew attention to the fact that there is an intergovernmental commission headed by Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev. "We also work together in terms of overcoming the pandemic itself and its consequences," Putin said.


In the Patriot Park in Kubinka near Moscow, the Russian president and the king of Jordan toured samples of military equipment. During the conversation, Putin explained that these armaments are also supplied to the Russian army and exported. The head of state noted that direct contact with colleagues from the armed forces of other countries brings them closer and increases the level of trust. "Maybe this is even more important than the demonstration of weapons, although it is also important for strengthening stability," he stressed.


On the Russian side, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev and presidential aide Yury Ushakov took part in the talks.
