Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed satisfaction that the situation in Kyrgyzstan is stabilizing. The Russian head of state also noted the importance of preserving the republic's position in international organizations.
"I will surely express a common opinion if I say that we have always been anxiously watching what is happening in domestic political life in Kyrgyzstan. I would like to express my satisfaction that the situation is stabilizing," the Russian President said on Wednesday at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in the format of a videoconference.
"We are also closely watching your position on Kyrgyzstan's compliance with its obligations under international treaties and are pleased to note that within the EEC, Kyrgyzstan is not changing its position, and within the CSTO. This is extremely important, including for the stability of Kyrgyzstan itself," said the Russian leader.
Putin assured Kyrgyzstan of Moscow's support on the way to further stabilization. "We will support you in every possible way on the way of further stabilization," the head of state said.
"Bilaterally, Russia is doing a lot to support the Kyrgyz economy and social sphere", - said Putin. He specified that "it concerns also the fund of hundreds of millions of dollars, it concerns work connected with sanitary-epidemiological services, with phytosanitary control at borders". "We expect and proceed from what we will do together with you, we will continue this joint work", - said the Russian leader.
At the same time, the Russian President noted that "positive results will not be achieved if there is no internal stability". "Therefore, we are highly interested in the elections to both the representative body of power and the presidential elections to be held at the highest level, in compliance with all the requirements of the Constitution and the electoral law," Putin said.
Early elections of the President of Kyrgyzstan, as well as a referendum on the draft of the new Constitution, will be held on January 10, 2021.
