Russian President Vladimir Putin has promised that Moscow will continue to work on the grain deal so that the goals of this event will be achieved.
"We will continue this work [on the grain deal] in the hope that the goals for which this entire event was organized will still be achieved," the head of state said Wednesday, answering questions at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
He stressed that Moscow will insist that the export of grain from Ukraine and food from the Russian Federation is aimed at improving the situation and reducing prices on the world markets. "I hope that after all, the situation will somehow change, we, at least for our part, will insist that all this event with the export of grain [from Ukraine] and our food was aimed primarily at a positive impact on world food markets, so that the price would go down," the president said.
Putin noted that "the price has stabilized a little bit, but nevertheless [there is] an upward trend, and according to international organizations, the price will still rise, the price of food will rise."
"Therefore, we still need to combine efforts to reverse this trend," the Russian leader urged. He is sure that "all chances to do so exist." "We should not only make decisions under some plausible pretext, but work together on the implementation of the decisions," Putin said.
