Putin suggested that the Russian Security Council discuss additional measures to help Lebanon

Russian President Vladimir Putin did not rule out that Russia would provide additional assistance to Lebanon after the explosion in the port of Beirut.

 

 

"On my instructions, a group of emergency situations forces has been formed, and additional forces of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation have been assigned to them," the head of state said on Friday at an operational meeting with permanent members of the Security Council. He noted that Russian specialists had already started working in the Lebanese capital.


"Let's think about what else we can do to help people in Lebanon," Putin told. The President of the Russian Federation called the explosion in Beirut a tragic event.

 

 

At the current meeting, Putin also suggested discussing the situation in Russia and in the world.


The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, head of the presidential administration Anton Vaino, Secretary of the Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Director of the Federal security service Alexander Bortnikov.
