Russian President Vladimir Putin called on the country's Muslims to listen to the Muftis and celebrate Eid al-Fitr at home. The head of state made a corresponding statement during a meeting with the leadership of Dagestan, which was held via videoconference.
"Now it is the Holy month of Ramadan for all Muslims. The month of strict fasting. This year, it began on April 24, and will end this week, on May 23, before the great Eid al-Fitr holiday. I know how people in the Republic treat this holiday, how they protect their customs. I also know that the clergy urge the faithful followers of Islam to celebrate this holiday at home, to abandon collective prayers and the tradition of gathering together with friends and large companies," the media quoted Putin as saying.
"I hope that this authoritative word will be heard", he added.
The President noted the difficult situation with COVID-19 in the republic
"Despite the relative stabilization, the risk of the coronavirus infection persists throughout the country, and the situation in Dagestan is not easy now. New cases of the disease and its severe complications are being recorded. In recent days, the region's health care system has been under serious strain. Despite the dedicated efforts of doctors and nurses, the number of tragic outcomes is increasing, including among health workers themselves, people also say that the necessary medical care is not always and everywhere available in a timely and complete manner", - Putin said.
Putin also demanded that the issue of providing Dagestan with test systems for the coronavirus be resolved as quickly as possible.
"According to my information, there are still problems with the lack of test systems and laboratory facilities in the Republic. We need to resolve this issue as quickly as possible," the head of state stressed.
"At the same time, according to experts, the main reasons for the development of severe complications are late requesting of patients for medical care, as well as self - treatment at home," the Russian leader stressed.
Separately, Vladimir Putin wished to get health to the coronavirus infected Mufti of Dagestan Ahmad Abdullayev, who also took part in the meeting via videoconference.
Mufti said that he had not completely recovered from the coronavirus yet, so it is difficult for him to speak, and the attending physician is present next to him.
“Thank you very much, Ahmad Haji. First of all, I want to wish you good health. Get well and gain strength. I am sure that you will be involved in active work to help people soon. Thank you very much”, Putin said.
Currently, the number of confirmed cases has exceeded 13 thousand people, seven thousand of them are being treated in hospitals. 29 patients died from complications caused by the coronavirus.
