Rudenko: Russia Opposes NATO Expansion into Southeast Asia

09 December

Russia firmly opposes the expansion of NATO into Southeast Asia, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko. Speaking at the 15th Asian Conference of the Valdai Club, Rudenko highlighted Russia's stance on preventing the militarization of the region.

"We do not wish to see the militarization of this region or the expansion of NATO into this part of the world," he stated.

Rudenko emphasized that Russia's cooperation with its regional partners aligns with contemporary global realities. "We believe that Asia deserves a constructive approach, one that prioritizes peace, stability, and economic development in line with the objectives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ASEAN, and the three leading organizations of Eurasia, which share common goals," he added.
