Russia and Qatar are working on a joint coronavirus vaccine

Specialists from Russia and Qatar are working on joint development of a vaccine against a new coronavirus infection, the Russian Ambassador to the Emirate Nurmakhmad Kholov told RIA Novosti.


"Russia and Qatar have maintained close cooperation since the first days of the COVID-19 epidemic, and there is work going on between the relevant departments of the two countries to jointly develop a vaccine," the diplomat said.


Qatari authorities, according to Kholov, are also studying the possibility of using Russian test systems for laboratory diagnostics of the COVID-19.


This Russian development, which allows getting results in 2-4 hours, has been transferred to 13 countries around the world.


According to the latest data, the total number of infected in Qatar is over 6 thousand people. About a dozen people died.
