Russia and Tajikistan Advocate for Intensified Trade and Economic Cooperation

Russia and Tajikistan are in favor of intensifying cooperation in trade and economic sphere. This was stated by  President of Tajikstan Emomali Rahmon following a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

 

"In the thirtieth anniversary year of the signing of the treaty on friendship, cooperation, and mutual assistance, we provided a positive evaluation of the level of interaction between our countries. We expressed the need to enhance cooperation in the trade and economic sphere," stated Rahmon.

 

Rahmon stated that, during the meeting, both sides reached agreements on collaborative efforts to further enhance performance indicators in this field in the coming years.

 

 

"The discussions covered the expansion of investment cooperation, and an agreement was reached to pursue the implementation of significant investment projects across various sectors of the economy," highlighted the Tajik leader. He further noted that the country has established a conducive investment climate and operates several free economic zones for these purposes.

 

The president of Tajikistan also emphasized that cooperation with Russia in the field of financial information has reached a qualitatively new level.

 

"Our bilateral transactions in national currencies have risen to 82%," he stated.

 

Rahmon arrived in Russia on an official visit on November 21. Accompanying him is a delegation from the Tajik government, which includes heads of ministries and agencies. Rahmon is also expected to meet with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
