Russia approves new Syrian ambassador to Russia

The Russian side has given an official agreation to appoint a new Syrian ambassador to Russia, but the new head of the Syrian diplomatic mission has not yet arrived in Moscow, Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister, told TASS on Tuesday.


"The new Syrian ambassador has not yet arrived in Moscow, but we have given an official agreation to the Syrian side's request for the appointment of a new ambassador. The embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic won't stay without an ambassador for a long time," said the deputy minister in response to a relevant question.


On Friday, September 30, Bogdanov received Riyad Haddad, Syrian ambassador to Moscow, on the completion of his mission in Russia. The sides discussed topical issues of further development of the whole range of Russian-Syrian traditionally friendly relations, including the expansion of effective cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
