Russia established working contacts with the new authorities in Kabul to ensure the safety of the Russian diplomatic mission, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

"According to the information available, the situation in Kabul and Afghanistan as a whole is stabilizing. The Taliban have begun to restore public order and have confirmed security guarantees for local residents and foreign diplomatic missions," the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out. - "We call on all Afghan sides to refrain from violence and to help resolve the situation peacefully".
On August 15 the fighters of the Taliban entered Kabul without any fight and took full control of the Afghan capital within a few hours. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said he resigned to avoid bloodshed and left the country. Western countries evacuate their citizens and embassy personnel.
