Russia is concerned about reports of Israel's plans to unilaterally implement the so-called "deal of the century" regarding the annexation of Palestinian territories,Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia told at a meeting of the UN Security Council on the Middle East settlement in an online format.

"Unfortunately, reports indicate that settlement activity and the demolition of Palestinian real estate is continuing. The clashes that lead to victims do not stop," the Russian diplomat said, in particular.

In this regard, Russia, according to him, considers it critically important that, in order to preserve the peace process, the parties do not take provocative actions or unilateral steps."

The task of achieving inter-Palestinian unity also remains urgent. "Russia is making efforts to unite the Palestinian ranks. We highly appreciate the role of our Egyptian friends in this direction," Nebenzia said.

US President Donald Trump announced the details of the "deal of the century" on January 28. According to the document, Jerusalem is recognized as the capital of Israel, and Palestine becomes an independent but demilitarized state, effectively deprived of control over its borders. As the future capital of Palestine, the plan proposes the village of Abu Dis in the Eastern suburbs of Jerusalem, located behind a security fence. Palestine categorically rejected the US plan. Statements on the unacceptability of the document were made by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League and the European Union.
