Moscow does not plan to create a military base in Libya, and no corresponding requests were sent to the Libyan authorities, Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgy Borisenko said.

Earlier, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Government of National Accord of Libya (GNA), Fathi Bashaga, in an interview with the Bloomberg news agency, said that it was necessary to "prevent Russia's plans to establish bases in Sirte and Jufra."

"Russia has no such plans. No requests were made from the Russian side to the Libyan authorities to establish any military base or naval base, " the Ambassador said on the TEN Egyptian TV channel, responding to a question from the host.

In Libya, the conflict continues between the Government of National Accord of Fayez Sarraj, which controls Tripoli and territories in the West of the country, and the Libyan National Army under the command of Marshal Khalifa Haftar, which cooperates with the Parliament sitting in the East. The GNA is supported by Turkey and Qatar, while the LNA is supported by Egypt and the UAE.

In February of Bashaga said that the authorities in Tripoli "would not mind" against the construction of American bases in Libya to deter Russia. In June, the Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak, citing military sources, reported that Turkey was preparing to establish two permanent bases on the territory of Libya.

Russia plays a significant role in the settlement of the Libyan crisis, acting as a mediator and trying to maintain relations with all parties to the conflict. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said that Moscow would encourage all external players to contribute to the settlement in Libya, there is no military solution there.
