08 September 2020

The first batch of the Russian vaccine from COVID-19 "Sputnik V" was released into civil circulation, and deliveries to the regions are expected in the near future, the press service of the Ministry of Health reported.

As noted in the department, the vaccine has passed all the necessary laboratory tests.

In August, Russia was the first in the world to register a drug for prevention COVID-19, developed by Gamalei Research Center together with the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

During the trials, the vaccine generated a stable humoral and cellular immune response in one hundred percent of the participants and did not cause any serious adverse events for any of the criteria.

At the same time, the level of viral neutralizing antibodies in vaccinated volunteers was 1.4-1.5 times higher than the level of antibodies in people who were ill.

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko explained that civil turnover at this stage means vaccination of the population from risk groups, in particular, teachers and doctors, which will be carried out in parallel with post-registration clinical studies.
