The foreign ministers of Russia and Arab nations, who participated in the VI session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum (RACF) held in Marrakech, have urged the establishment of a multilateral mediation framework to address the Palestinian issue, a joint statement issued at the conclusion of the session reads.
"The ministers advocate for the intensification of international diplomatic efforts in this regard by creating a multilateral mediation framework, with the primary involvement of Middle Eastern countries, the Arab League, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation," states the text.
The statement also voiced support for the initiatives of Egypt, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia in resolving the conflict in Gaza and providing humanitarian assistance to its population.
The situation in the Middle East escalated significantly after Hamas fighters infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip on October 7. The movement termed the attack as a response to the Israeli authorities' actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Subsequently, Israel declared a complete blockade of Gaza and launched retaliatory strikes against it, as well as parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also occurring in the West Bank.
