The Russian Foreign Ministry has called for the international community to legally assess the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, labeling such aggressive and unequivocally inadmissible actions as needing immediate cessation.
"We firmly believe that Israel's aggressive actions are utterly unacceptable and must be halted. It is crucial for all responsible members of the international community to clarify their stance and provide an appropriate legal evaluation of these actions," the ministry stated. The ministry further urged Israeli leaders to cease their practice of provocative military actions in Syria and other neighboring countries, warning of the potentially grave consequences for the entire region.
It reported that the attack resulted in the complete destruction of the building, leading to a significant toll of deaths and injuries, including among diplomats. Moscow has "strongly condemned this attack on the Iranian consular office in Syria." The statement highlighted, "We categorically reject any attacks on diplomatic and consular premises, the sanctity of which is protected under the relevant Vienna Conventions. We draw particular attention to the fact that the attack occurred in a densely populated urban area, significantly increasing the risk of civilian casualties."
