Russian MFA: growing number of countries recognize illegitimacy of Western sanctions

11 August 2023

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated during his visit to Dushanbe that the count of nations whose populations recognize the unjustifiability of the sanctions imposed on Russia by Western countries is on the rise.

"As time goes on, an increasing number of countries—through their public, business, and political sectors—are gaining a clearer understanding of the unjustifiability of the so-called Western sanctions. These sanctions are proving to be increasingly detrimental, not only to the countries that have imposed them, but also to their own business communities and those who are involved in this unwarranted initiative by the West," Galuzin remarked.

He highlighted that Russia is committed to further enhancing trade and economic collaboration with CIS nations, including Tajikistan. "Our trade relations are expanding <...> We are engaged in highly productive and constructive discussions about new prospects for our partnership. Therefore, we intend to uphold this momentum, and we can see that our joint endeavors to cultivate bilateral economic and other connections are producing substantial, positive outcomes, despite the sometimes unfavorable external conditions and the sanctions measures pursued by the West," the diplomat emphasized.

On August 10, Galuzin held talks with his Tajik counterpart, Sodik Imomi, at the Tajik foreign ministry. The discussions encompassed topics related to trade and economic cooperation, as well as political matters.
