16 December 2022

Moscow positively assesses the idea of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to hold a Russia-Syria-Turkey summit, said Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and African countries and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

"Positive," he said Friday when asked by reporters how the Russian side views the Turkish leader's initiative.

Answering a question from TASS, Bogdanov said the Russian side is in contact with Damascus about organizing such a meeting. "We always welcome issues of organizing relations between neighboring sovereign states, this has been repeatedly discussed at all levels," he stressed.

Earlier, Erdogan said he had offered Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold a trilateral meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
