Russian MFA notes Western decline in Africa

25 July 2023

During the Russian-African conference of the Valdai Discussion Club, Oleg Ozerov, the Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry and Head of the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, asserted that Western countries are experiencing a catastrophic loss of influence on the African continent.

"The West is experiencing a severe decline in influence, not only in terms of material investments but also in moral authority. This is strongly evident on the African continent," he said.

Ozerov pointed out that the West's unpopularity in Africa stems from its perceived exploitative policies, not Moscow's influence. He added that Russia is not engaging in any conflict with the West in Africa.
