Russian Muslims mourn the victims of the Beirut explosion

Russian Muslims express their condolences to the people of Lebanon because of the explosion in Beirut, and also pray for the souls of the victims and those affected, said the Chairman of the Russian  Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, Mufti sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.


A powerful explosion occurred near the port of Beirut on Tuesday evening. According to the authorities, the reason was improper storage of 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, half of the city's buildings were damaged, and hospitals are overcrowded due to the large number of victims. According to the latest data, the death toll is about 100 people, more than 4 thousand were injured. The government of Lebanon has declared three days of mourning for the victims of the tragedy.


"I express my sincere condolences in connection with the explosion in the port of Beirut, which caused many human victims, hundreds of injuries, and extensive destruction. Lebanon has faced a truly national grief and shock," Gainutdin said in a statement published on the website of the organization.


According to him, Russian Muslims "express their condolences and sincere empathy for the people of Lebanon" and grieve together with those who lost their relatives and friends.


"Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return. We pray Allah for mercy to the souls of the dead, for the healing of the victims and for patience to those who have suffered loss, " Gaynutdin summed up.
