Russian Permanent Mission: it is easier to imagine a "peace summit" at the UN without Ukraine than without Russia

27 December 2022

The Russian Permanent Mission to the UN has responded to an initiative of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitriy Kuleba to hold a "peace summit" at the UN by the end of February, in which the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres could act as a possible mediator. At the same time, the Ukrainian official claimed in an interview with the Associated Press that the question of inviting Russia should be subject to preconditions.

"Foreign Minister Kuleba said that Ukraine proposes to hold a kind of "peace summit" by the end of February, where the UN secretary-general could act as a kind of "mediator." "Secondly, the Ukrainian foreign ministry has unleashed a lengthy statement that Russia allegedly became a member of the UN Security Council, and the UN in general illegally, and with a call to expel us from there (this nonsense has already become the "trademark number" of the Kiev regime's permanent representative to the UN Kyslytsya, nobody simply reacts to his hysterics at Security Council meetings)," First Deputy Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy noted in his Telegram channel in the evening of December 26.

"If you try to put the two pieces of news together, they are mutually exclusive. What kind of "peace summit" can there be without Russia? It is very easy to imagine it without Ukraine," the diplomat pointed out. - "And this is a nightmare scenario for the "kulebas" and "kyslytsyas", who are forced to produce such initiatives, which bring them exactly to this scenario. In short, "Diplomacy 404.""

As the UN secretary-general's office told TASS, the administrative head of the world organization is ready to mediate in the conflict in Ukraine only if all parties agree.
