Riyadh is ready to serve as a mediator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Moscow, Abdel Rahman bin Suleiman Al-Ahmad, told TASS.
"Saudi Arabia, by participating in meetings with national security advisers, demonstrates its support for all resolutions aimed at de-escalating the crisis in Ukraine. The Kingdom is prepared to mediate to facilitate communication between all involved parties," the diplomat stated.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during an October 18 meeting with BRICS media representatives, indicated that Russia is open to Saudi Arabia as a potential venue for a Ukraine-related conference, though he raised the question of "what is to be discussed." The ambassador appreciated Putin's remarks, highlighting Saudi Arabia as a friendly and welcoming location for such discussions.
"In his statement, the Russian president underscored the strong and strategic relations between the Kingdom and the Russian Federation," the ambassador noted. "He also pointed to the solid personal ties with Saudi leadership."
Al-Ahmad added that Riyadh and Moscow have made strides in building a stronger partnership. This developing relationship, he believes, will promote peace and stability, ultimately benefiting both nations and their people. "The progress in Saudi-Russian relations reflects shared aspirations and opens new opportunities that foster peace and stability, paving the way for a bright and prosperous future for both countries and their friendly peoples," he concluded.
