Slutsky called the scientist's murder a terrorist attack aimed at provoking Iran

The murder of nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh is a terrorist attack aimed at provoking Iran, Russia condemns this crime, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs Leonid Slutsky said.


"The murder of Iranian physicist Fakhrizadeh is a terrorist attack with the purpose of new provocation of Tehran. It is important to prevent the growth of tension in the region," the deputy wrote on his Twitter.

 

 

"The Russian Federation condemns this murder, no matter who committed it, and expresses its deep condolences to Iran and the relatives of Fakhrizadeh," he added.


On Friday, the Fars agency reported the assassination attempt on Fakhrizadeh, which headed a research center under the Iranian Ministry of Defense, near the city of Damovend (Tehran province). The Ministry of Defense later confirmed that Fakhrizadeh was wounded and died in hospital. ISNA agency informed that the Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army Seyed Abdol-Rahim Musawi stated about the involvement of Israel and the USA. President of the Islamic Republic Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that this murder would not remain unanswered.
