Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin showed understanding to the special operation to protect Donbass. This is reported by the press service of the Kremlin on the results of the conversation between the leaders.

"They discussed the development of the situation in connection with the special military operation to protect the civilians of Donbass, as well as the implementation of demilitarization and denationalization of Ukraine," the report said.

It is noted that Mirziyoyev "expressed his understanding of the actions taken from the Russian side."

The Russian president and the president of Uzbekistan also confirmed during a telephone conversation the intention to develop a strategic partnership, primarily in the economy.

"Some topical issues of the bilateral agenda were also touched upon. The mutual intention to further develop the Russian-Uzbek strategic partnership with a focus on the implementation of specific projects in trade, economic and humanitarian areas was confirmed," the statement said.

On Thursday morning, Putin said that in response to an appeal by the leaders of the Donbass republics, he decided to conduct a special military operation. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow's plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian military is not striking Ukrainian cities; military infrastructure is being taken out of action using high-precision weapons. Civilians are not threatened, the ministry assured.
