The Kremlin urges countries not to add fuel to the conflict in Karabakh

29 September 2020

The Kremlin believes that statements about possible military support for Azerbaijan and Armenia, which are in conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, only add fuel to the fire, and the parties should be urged to return to a political and diplomatic solution. This statement was made by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov in an interview with reporters on Tuesday.

"The Kremlin, first of all, proceeds from the need for an early cease-fire and fighting. Any statements about any military support or military activity clearly add fuel to the fire. We are categorically against this and we do not agree with this formulation of the issue," the Kremlin representative stressed.

"We call on all countries, especially our partner countries such as Turkey, to do everything possible to convince the warring parties to cease fire and return to a peaceful settlement of this long - standing conflict by political and diplomatic means," Peskov said.
