The whole government of Lebanon is resigning, the Health Minister Hamad Hasan announced on Monday at the Grand Serail after a Cabinet meeting.

"The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Hassan Diab, will soon announce the resignation of our entire government," he told reporters as he left the Palace.

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation Michel Najjar confirmed the decision of the technocrats' cabinet. "We are not resigning to relieve ourselves of our responsibility," he said. - The ministers will remain in office until a new government is formed".

The resignation of the Cabinet  will mean that the Lebanese authorities will fulfill one of the demands of local residents, who since Friday went to rallies that turned into mass clashes. Demonstrators threw stones and firecrackers at police, and tear gas grenades were thrown at them in response. Among other things, they supported the dissolution of Parliament and the implementation of reforms.

On Friday, protesters seized the buildings of four ministries, but the army managed to oust them from government complexes. As a result of the riots, according to the Interior Ministry, a security officer was killed and more than 700 people were injured.
