Turkey and Russia Negotiate Resumption of Patrols in Northern Syria

25 July

Turkey and Russia are currently in negotiations to resume joint patrols along the M-4 highway in northern Syria, a practice that has been on hold for four years. Sources from the Turkish Defense Ministry disclosed this information to TRT Haber.

"The Turkish Armed Forces are committed to ensuring peace and stability in the region and will continue to make necessary efforts in this regard. Ensuring the safety of the M-4 highway is a priority, and discussions with our counterparts are ongoing to achieve this," stated the sources.

The M-4 highway is a significant route that passes through Idlib province, connecting Aleppo with Latakia in western Syria. Earlier reports from the Syrian newspaper Al Watan indicated that Ankara and Moscow had purportedly reached an agreement to reopen the highway.
