Turkey and Egypt, after 10 years, have fully restored diplomatic relations, bringing them to the level of ambassadors. The Turkish foreign ministry announced this on Tuesday.
"The Republic of Turkey and the Arab Republic of Egypt announce that they have brought diplomatic relations between the two countries to the ambassadorial level. Turkey has nominated Ambassador Salih Mutlu Sen for the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Cairo," the statement said.
The Egyptian foreign ministry confirmed the information on raising diplomatic relations with Turkey to the level of ambassadors. A statement to this effect was published on the official page of the foreign ministry on Facebook (banned in Russia; owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in Russia).
"The Arab Republic of Egypt and the Republic of Turkey announce the upgrading of diplomatic relations to ambassadorial level. Egypt appoints Amr al-Hamami as its ambassador to Ankara. <...> This step aims to restore diplomatic relations between the countries and reflects their common determination to work to strengthen bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the Egyptian and Turkish peoples," the statement reads.
