The presidential and parliamentary elections to be held in Turkey on May 14 will completely change its history. This is due to growing pressure on Ankara from the US and Europe, says Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu.
"Turkey is changing its history. With the elections on May 14, it will change completely. It is not the election of [President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan, but the choice of Turkey's future generations, its full independence, and that is why the US and Europe are putting pressure on it," TV100 quoted the minister as saying on Wednesday.
According to Soylu, "America keeps losing credibility and the whole world hates it. Europe itself does not exist, it is only an attachment to America, with no specifics." "European leaders are constantly discredited, the continent's population is aging, and economic development is and will continue to be difficult there. Europe has become America's pawn in Africa, all African countries hate the states that exploit them," said the head of the Turkish interior ministry.
In Turkey, before the elections, there are more and more harsh statements against the West accusing it of interfering in the election campaign. Turkish President Erdogan earlier said that he would no longer receive US Ambassador to Ankara Jeff Flake after he met with Kemal Kilicdaroglu, leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) and an opposition candidate at the presidential election.
The presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in Turkey on May 14. Analysts predict that the major contenders for the presidency will be Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu, who was nominated as a single candidate by the opposition.
