The hunger crisis in Gaza is worsening due to severe food supply shortages caused by strict access restrictions, according to a report by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The report highlights that approximately 120,000 tons of food aid, sufficient to provide full rations for the population of Gaza for over three months, remain outside the region due to Israeli authorities blocking most delivery requests. Humanitarian organizations warn that without additional aid, the distribution of food packages to starving families will be significantly curtailed.
The report also states that around 50 community kitchens, which provide over 200,000 meals daily in central and southern Gaza, are at risk of shutting down in the coming days due to the lack of supplies.
