US has no intention to replace oil supplies from Russia with Iranian exports

The US authorities will not seek to replace Russian oil supplies with Iranian exports, regardless of the restoration of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Tehran's nuclear program, State Department press chief Ned Price said at a briefing for reporters on Tuesday.

"Whether or not there will be the JCPOA, our position on the ban on Iranian oil will not change. We will not replace Russian oil with Iranian oil. It will not be considered," the US foreign policy spokesman said. "For Iran to be permanently barred from obtaining nuclear weapons is equally in our interests and Russia's interests," Price believes.

US President Joe Biden previously banned energy imports from Russia by executive order as sanctions in connection with Russia's military operation in Ukraine.
