Volodin Arrives in Tehran for Iran's Presidential Inauguration

Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, has arrived in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian, according to a statement from the State Duma's press service.

 

"Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin arrived in Tehran on Tuesday, July 30. On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Volodin will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian," the statement said.

 

On July 28, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei signed a decree formally appointing Pezeshkian as president. The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Majlis (Iran's unicameral parliament) building.

 

Mojtaba Yousefi, a member of the Iranian Majlis Presidium, announced on July 23 that representatives from at least 60 countries are expected to attend the event.
