State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey during his official visit to Ankara. The press service of the State Duma reported this on Tuesday.
"Vyacheslav Volodin met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed to Erdogan warm greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin," the message reads.
Volodin stressed that relations between Russia and Turkey are developing dynamically, largely thanks to the efforts of the presidents of both countries. He added that the parliaments of the two countries need to do everything possible to legislate the decisions adopted by the heads of state.
"In this regard, it is right to implement new formats of cooperation within the parliamentary dimension. Together with our colleagues, we agreed to hold a meeting of the high-level inter-parliamentary commission next year. In addition, we discussed the possibility of holding a conference of chairmen of parliaments on countering terrorism and strengthening regional cooperation next year," Volodin said.
A State Duma delegation led by Volodin is in Ankara on an official visit. During the visit, the speaker of the State Duma met with Chairman of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Sentop on Tuesday. The parliamentarians discussed the development of inter-parliamentary relations between Russia and Turkey.
