WHO Chief Condemns Killing of Humanitarian Staff in Gaza

03 April

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), has voiced his profound outrage over the tragic killing of humanitarian workers from World Central Kitchen in the Gaza Strip. Taking to his official X account (formerly Twitter), he stressed the paramount importance of ensuring safety during aid delivery operations.

"How many more lives must be lost before a ceasefire is achieved? The killing of aid workers in Gaza fills us with outrage," Gebreyesus declared. "Ensuring safety is an essential condition for delivering life-saving assistance," he reiterated, extending his heartfelt condolences to the team at World Central Kitchen and the families affected by this senseless violence.

"Once again, we urge for the ongoing protection of humanitarian workers throughout the Gaza Strip," summarized the WHO chief.

Reports emerged on Tuesday indicating that staff members of World Central Kitchen, dedicated to providing free meals to victims of natural disasters, were killed when their vehicle came under attack of the IDF south of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. Among the casualties were several foreign nationals, including citizens of Australia, Britain, Ireland, and Poland.
