First EMERCOM group from Russia arrived at search and rescue site in Turkey

The first group of Russian Emergencies Ministry rescuers, who arrived Tuesday night in Turkey, reached their deployment site in the most earthquake-hit province of Kahramanmaras and will soon proceed with the search and rescue work on the spot.


According to a TASS correspondent, the first group of rescuers, having overcome 200 km on mountain roads from Adana, arrived in the town of Marash. They will be stationed at the base of the Turkish AFAB, the equivalent of the Russian emergency ministry.

 

 

A total of more than 100 Russian rescuers, equipped with the necessary emergency rescue tools for search operations and deblocking of victims, arrived in Turkey. These include endoscopes, acoustic search instruments to detect a victim in the rubble at a depth of up to 4.5 meters, GPRs and thermal imagers. Rescuers will work around the clock and have brought drones with them to conduct reconnaissance and monitoring from the air.


The 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit Kahramanmaras province in southeastern Turkey on Monday. After a while a new powerful strike was recorded. According to the latest data, more than 3.3 thousand people were killed in Turkey and more than 20 thousand people were wounded.
