The swearing-in ceremony for Iran's newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian will take place on July 30 at the Majlis (Parliament) building, according to Mojtaba Yousefi, a member of the Iranian parliament's presidium.
"According to the program, the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of the 14th president will be held on 9 Mordad (corresponding to July 30 on the Gregorian calendar)," Yousefi told the ISNA news agency. He added that the inauguration will be preceded by a ceremony where Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will sign a decree officially approving the elected president.
Yousefi, citing Iranian law, explained that the inauguration ceremony is held in the presence of key figures, including the chief justice of the Supreme Court, the head of the judiciary, members of the Council of Guardians of the Constitution, and high-ranking officials and military personnel. During the ceremony, the president-elect takes the oath of office, pledging to faithfully fulfill their duties.
Pezeshkian, a candidate from the reformist wing and former Health Minister, secured victory in the second round of the extraordinary presidential election held on July 5. He received 53.6% of the total votes, defeating conservative candidate Saeed Jalili who garnered 44.3%. The election was scheduled following the death of former President Ebrahim Raisi.
