Iraq and Russia are currently working on more than 25 projects involving agreements and memorandums of understanding, with several expected to be signed soon. This was revealed by Baki Aziz, Director of the European Department of Iraq's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during an exhibition in Moscow commemorating the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
“Our two friendly nations are connected by numerous bilateral agreements, memorandums of understanding, and protocols—more than 50 across various fields. Currently, we are reviewing over 25 new agreements and memorandum projects, many of which have completed the necessary formalities, and we expect their signing in the near future,” Aziz stated.
He also highlighted the strong practical and cultural cooperation between Iraq and Russia, noting that more than 5,000 Iraqi students are currently studying at Russian universities.
“We share a significant alignment of views on many regional and global issues. We are grateful for Russia's stance on many topics important to us,” Aziz emphasized.
Diplomatic relations between Iraq and Russia were first established on September 9, 1944.
