The authorities of Kazakhstan will make efforts to further develop allied relations with Russia and the eternal strategic partnership with China. President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said this on Tuesday during a public meeting in Shymkent.
"Our foreign policy will continue to be balanced, multidirectional and constructive. Kazakhstan will make every effort to further develop allied relations with Russia, eternal strategic partnership with China, all-round cooperation with brotherly Central Asian states, namely Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan," the president was quoted as saying by his press service.
According to Tokayev, Astana will develop mutually beneficial ties with all interested states in Asia, the Middle East or Europe. "I'm sure this is the kind of foreign policy that corresponds to the interests of our people," the Kazakh leader said.
He also noted that the interests of Kazakhstan and its people are at the center of the country's efforts in the international arena. "We will fight for the supremacy of international law and the UN Charter. We consider it extremely important to strengthen the principles of justice in international relations, non-interference in internal affairs, and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state," Tokayev stressed.
According to the president, in the current difficult period, when the situation is exacerbated by the sanctions confrontation of the major powers, it is especially important to maintain the consent of the people. "The source of well-being is our unity. Prosperity means economy, and unity means politics. We can only grow and develop if we can keep peace in the country. We need neither external enemies nor internal strife. That is why we maintain a neutral stance in our foreign policy. This position is highly appreciated by the international community and is in the supreme interest of our country. And in domestic politics, our most important priorities are unity and harmony," the head of state explained.
