Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow highly appreciates the role of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, which are contributing to the prisoner exchange process. He expressed this opinion when commenting on the exchange of businessman Viktor Bout for basketball player Brittney Griner.
"One can appreciate the role of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, which traditionally try to make a significant contribution to such processes," the Russian leader's spokesman said.
Asked whether these countries could help exchange some Russians for American Paul Whelan, convicted in Russia for espionage, Peskov noted that the intelligence services would continue their work if necessary. "There, if necessary, the intelligence services will continue their work," he said.
