Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will hold a telephone conversation on February 1, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told TASS on Monday, commenting on statements by US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland and other US representatives about the upcoming contact between the foreign ministers of the two countries.
"A face-to-face meeting is not planned. There will be a telephone conversation between Lavrov and Blinken on Tuesday," the diplomat said.
Earlier, Nuland said Lavrov and Blinken are likely to hold talks in the coming week. For his part, the Russian minister said in a radio interview that a new US-Russian meeting would take place in the next few weeks.
