Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud discussed the tasks of settling military and political conflicts in Sudan and Yemen as well as normalizing the situation in Syria on the margins of the BRICS ministerial meeting in South Africa on Thursday, the Russian foreign minister said.
"There was also a detailed checking of views on topical international and Middle Eastern issues with a focus on the tasks of settling military and political conflicts in Sudan and Yemen, as well as the normalization of the situation in Syria and around it taking into account the resumption of the participation of the SAR in the Arab League following decisions of the recent pan-Arab summit in Jeddah," the ministry said.
The diplomatic office also noted that the sides discussed priority issues of further enhancing mutually beneficial Russian-Saudi cooperation in accordance with the agreements reached earlier at the highest level. "At the same time, Moscow and Riyadh confirmed their willingness to deepen the political dialogue and tighten coordination in the UN and other multilateral platforms," the Russian foreign ministry added.
