Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting with Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov noted his efforts to develop allied relations between Moscow and Tashkent.
"We know how actively you are working for the benefit of Uzbekistan and for the development of our allied strategic relations, and today here in China, in this beautiful province, is a very good opportunity to compare watches, to see how the agreements of our presidents are implemented," the Russian foreign minister said.
Lavrov noted that the ministers also have an opportunity to discuss further promotion of bilateral relations and cooperation in regional formats at the meeting in Tunxi.
According to Umurzakov, Russian-Uzbek cooperation has acquired "a completely different character" over the past five years. The minister noted the role of friendly relations between the two heads of state in this.
"Uzbek-Russian cooperation especially for the last five years has acquired a completely different character and it is certainly in a large part the merit of the leaders of our states who treat each other with great respect and understanding," he said.
