Moscow is ready to supply military products to Gabon to improve the African country's defense capabilities, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday following talks with Gabon's Foreign Minister Pacom Moubele-Boubeya.
"We are also ready to supply military products to improve the defense capabilities of the state of Gabon," he said.
"We already have our first experience - we will develop it - of training for the Gabonese army, law enforcement agencies. There are agreements between the defense ministries, the legal framework has been created for that," Lavrov noted.
According to Lavrov, Russia is interested in strengthening friendly relations and developing bilateral cooperation with Gabon.
"We are interested in the consistent strengthening of friendly relations between our countries, in the development of bilateral cooperation in all areas," he said.
"We see a reciprocal attitude on your part, as it was confirmed during the meeting of our presidents in July 2018. I expect to specifically discuss today the prospects of bilateral ties and our cooperation in international organizations, first of all in the UN," the Russian Minister added.
In turn, the Gabonese Foreign Minister stressed that he counts on Russia's assistance in improving the quality of life in the African republic. "We would like to note that our country is now actively increasing efforts to improve the quality of life of our population and here, of course, we are relying on the help of the Russian Federation. Here I would apply this metaphor: we would like not to be given a hand but a shaking hand," said Moubele-Boubeya.
