Lebanese Urged to Preserve National Unity Amid New Challenges

08 October

The Lebanese Army continues to fulfill its mission of protecting citizens and the entire country, including its southern border, in close coordination with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). This was stated in an announcement by the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) command, posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

“In the face of the ongoing barbaric attacks by the Israeli enemy, we call on the Lebanese people to strengthen their national unity to preserve Lebanon and withstand this new trial,” the statement read.

The army emphasized that it “relies on the determination, faith, and will of its soldiers, as well as the unity of all Lebanese around the army’s unifying role.”

On October 2, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati stated that the government supports a diplomatic resolution to the crisis and is prepared to deploy army units south of the Litani River. He expressed Lebanon’s hope that diplomatic efforts will lead to a ceasefire and bring an end to Israeli aggression.
